We've added Apple Mail support for Gmail accounts! You can now open Gmail-based tasks directly in the native macOS Mail app.
Go to Settings → Integrations → Select your Gmail account → Choose "Apple Mail" from the dropdown.

Yes please for this. Every Apple mail user/Akiflow user wants this as workarounds are unecessary and messy!

I do not use outlook (yet have tried the outlook integration with Akiflow and it’s great). I would really love to have an Akiflow extension in Apple mail.

i have not started my trial of akiflow yet (i need apple integration of calendar at the minimum), but in case akiflow supports deeplinks, here is a very cool applescript shortcut from the venerable Federico Viticci's MacStories https://www.macstories.net/stories/generating-markdown-links-to-mail-messages-with-shortcuts-and-applescript/
I use it with Todoist.com and capacities.io with great success.
