Inline subtask creation during new task setup

Allow subtasks to be added at the time a new task is being created, instead of requiring the task to be finished first. Currently, to add known subtasks to a new task, the task must be created, then found, opened, and Subtasks selected before any can be added. A suggested interaction: RETURN enters the task; OPT-RETURN creates the task and opens the subtask window.

Hi Dodge, thanks for the suggestion. There are two ways to shorten those steps:

    • In the full task window, enter the task title, then click Add Subtasks before closing the window.

    • If you create it through the command bar (Cmd+E), click View in the creation confirmation to open the task directly, then select Add Subtasks. That saves you having to find it.

We don’t currently have your suggested Option+Return shortcut. Would either of these options work for you, or is staying entirely on the keyboard the important part?
