The main reason I haven’t switched to Akiflow as my task manager is because it only allows tasks to repeat from their due date, not from their completion date. For example, if I water my plants every 7 days but miss a day because I'm out of town, I want the task to reschedule 7 days from when I actually water the plants, not from the original due date. This way, I can avoid overwatering my plants.

Is the only reason I keep another task manager on the side.

Joel: This is a really great feature if added! Thank you for the upvote :)

Oh, yes please!! SO helpful. EG, watering plants every four days. If I water a day or two late, it should still let me know four days later rather than hold to a schedule that is no longer helpful. (Ruben gives all the examples below. It's just a great idea.) :)

The workaround is to create these kind of tasks in Todoist. Not perfect, but probably you don't have to create these kind of tasks all the time.

Nick Cook: Paying for a whole extra task manager is a pretty expensive workaround.

Completion-based recurring tasks: Ability to set a task so it recurs a fixed timespan after completion, not just on a fixed schedule.

Right now, recurring tasks in Akiflow are date-based (e.g., “every week”). But for habits or chores, it would be much more useful if recurrence started from the completion date. For example:

If I finish “Change aquarium water” today, I want the next task to show up exactly 7 days from today.

If I forget and only complete it 2 weeks late, the next reminder should still be 7 days after that late completion, not immediately the next day.

Other tools like Todoist handle this with every! week, and it would be incredibly helpful to have the same flexibility in Akiflow to better manage routines that don’t always happen on time.

Add recurring option of “x days after completion.”

Currently there is an option to have a recurring task repeat every x days. But sometimes you have to delay that task and you don’t want the next task to be shorter than x days away.

    Example

Buy groceries - recurs every 7 days after completion and this starts in 4/1.

If I buy groceries on 4/1, the next recurrence should be 4/8.

If I failed to buy groceries on 4/1 and it went overdue to 4/2 and I bought groceries on 4/2, then the next recurrence should be 4/9.

The way it currently works is that if I bought groceries in 4/2, the next task will still be 4/8, which is 6 days.
