    Hey everyone.

Big update on this one. We've given Someday a full revamp on desktop and web, shaped directly by this thread:

    • Someday is now a first-class item in the main sidebar, right after Upcoming, so it's no longer buried under Upcoming

    • You can sort Someday by Newest, Oldest, Priority, Projects or Deadline, plus the same Projects and Tags filters as the Today view, so the oldest or highest-priority tasks are easy to surface and act on

    • Plan a task straight to Someday from the Plan dropdown, and new standalone This Week and This Month views make it easy to pull Someday tasks into a timeframe

    • A customizable sidebar lets you choose which views appear

This covers the core of what this long-running thread asked for, so we're marking it Completed. Thanks for all the feedback over the years, it genuinely shaped what we built. 🙏

A few specific ideas raised here are separate pieces of work and not part of this release: a per-task "age" indicator, an intermediate "Anytime/On Deck" bucket between Today and Someday, an Eisenhower-style matrix view, and an automated Someday-review ritual. If any of those still matter to you, please open a dedicated post so we can track them and you can rally votes.

Availability: this is live now on web and in the desktop app. If you don't see it yet, refresh the web app or fully quit and reopen the desktop app to update to the latest version.

    Hi everyone! 👋

Wanted to share an update on what we've recently been working on and will be available in upcoming desktop app updates:

    What's new:

    • Someday in the main sidebar - Someday is now a first-class entry in the sidebar, right after Upcoming. No more navigating through Upcoming to find your Someday tasks. (This was one of the top requests here)

    • Someday in the Plan menu - You can now plan a task to Someday directly from the Plan dropdown, alongside Today, Tomorrow, This Week, etc.

    • Standalone "This Week" and "This Month" views - Two new planner views with the same layout as Today (task list + calendar). You can navigate between weeks/months with arrow keys.

    • Customizable sidebar - A new "More..." menu lets you access This Week, This Month, Done, etc. You can also customize which sections appear in your sidebar via "Edit Sections."

    • Sort & filter in Someday - Sort your Someday list by Newest, Oldest, Priority, Labels, or Due Date, and use the same filters available in the Today view.

    • An updated Upcoming sidebar that keeps Inbox and Someday sections visible across all Upcoming views, so you can drag tasks between them without switching views.

    We'd love your feedback:

Once it lands, please give it a try and let us know here how your Someday workflow is feeling. What's still missing or frustrating? Let us know!

Thanks for all the feedback over the years in this thread, it directly shaped what we built. 🙏

Future planning with matrix would AMAZING! Another app I previewed called it an Eisenhower Matrix.

    1. Urgent / important

Adding this feedback here on behalf of Miguel Duarte

It would be great to add "Overdue" and "Someday" to the left hand side. Or alternatively get us a better way to handle these… I end up losing track a lot of tasks I don't complete, and there doesn't seem to be an easy way to see them grouped. Or if I add something to Someday, it's guaranteed I won't see it for months

Jeson P Yes, we agree. Akiflow can be hugely improved by implementing a feature where users can define their preferred “time sectors” (like for example: 'today', 'tomorrow', 'this week', 'this weekend', 'this month', etc.) inside the "Upcoming" menu.

To provide a more personalized planning experience.

We love the Akiflow ui but this feature is really needed in order for us to use Akiflow in a proper way.

Se example implementation in the attachment.

I suggested this elsewhere, but maybe it belongs here, while Someday is under review. I really think Akiflow could use one more designation for as-yet-unplannable tasks that could be called something like Anytime, Next, or On Deck -- sort of like unscheduled Someday tasks, but more pressing?

Here's the argument for it: Currently, for stuff we can easily schedule because life allows, we just pick an hour or day and plan it; for stuff we have no real plans to do at all yet (if ever), there's Someday, and we can come back whenever; but for pressing things that fall in our laps that are between those two, the only real option is to crowd Today or Snooze those for another time. Snooze is one of the genius parts of Akiflow, but for really important stuff we need to keep handy to work into a crowded schedule as soon as we can, it's not always great.

If I have a handful of tasks every week like this, I'd love them to be easily within reach rather than disappearing and reappearing for repeated processing, or buried in the All Tasks menus where we can find Snoozed items. Yes, using Tags can help, but it's not as elegant or accessible as a separate menu category like this. Things 3 is much praised for its Anytime designation, and Akiflow could put its own (better) spin on it and help us all.

Hope you'll consider this when you're already reworking the way Akiflow handles the unplanned tasks in Someday. Thank you!

Dodge: Hi! Thanks for your message. I saw your other request on this topic and we're truly considering this, so I'll keep you posted! Thanks again for taking the time to share your feedback :)

    Hi everyone!

We just released a new version of Akiflow with some huge changes!

We removed the Snooze feature (no worries, no tasks are lost and ‘Someday’ it’s still there!) and added Time Frames, reviewing completely the Upcoming view, the Plan options and the Rituals (adding weekly ones as well).

You can find here the list of today’s updates: https://product.akiflow.com/changelog.

So now, reviewing the Someday list and move tasks to "This Week" or "This Month" is much easier, both in the new Upcoming view and the Weekly Rituals.

Let me know what you think about the new release and what we can improve for you.

    Thanks,

    Stefania

Stefania I have been already used this feature since agreed on beta testing, it was quite positive expirience that tasks could be assigned into different views like "This week", "This month", etc. Bunch of Someday tasks are not soring my eyes anymore :)). From that perspective it's a unique feature.

Stefania Really like the Weekly planning feature and the newer updates. I do have a suggestion. When we move to "Finalize your Plan" in the weekly planning; having a stacked view of the days so removing the need to scroll to assign tasks OR a freeze pane on "This Week" so when we scroll to days outside the view it is still easier to assign tasks rather than having a long drag scroll and then drop. Hopefully my explanation is not convoluted.

Also, is there a shortcut or an upcoming shortcut to jump into weekly planning?

I would love to see both the Someday page and the All Tasks page have an option to separate tasks by Label. I.e., similar to sort-by-label but include a header for each label to improve the UX. And.. There really needs to be a "no label" filter. I.e., show only tasks that don't have a label. Thanks!
